Our Farm
Raising Cattle Responsibly
We have operated a family business of raising beef for over 20 years. Our cattle are fed only natural feeds. We do not use hormones, blood meal, antibiotics or any other chemical additives. Of course, if an animal gets sick, we do all we can to treat it including the use of antibiotics. However, that animal is then sold with full disclosure or sold at a general market.

We are not certified organic because the cost of our meat would have to be doubled at least. However, all of our hay is grown naturally here on the farm using only natural fertilizers. We do finish our cattle with corn that is purchased from local farmers. We estimate that 75% of our growth weight comes from grass and hay.

Our animals are processed through Isanti Meats in Isanti, Minnesota. The meat is sold by what is termed “hanging weight.” This is the weight of the animal after it has been butchered and dressed. The amount of meat that reaches your freezer will be less than this due to bone and cutting loss.

Our current price is $4.25 per pound hanging weight and is sold by quarters, halves and whole beef. A quarter beef will usually weigh between 175-200 pounds which means your cost will run about $700-850 per quarter. The butchering costs vary depending on what is done but should run about $220-250 per quarter at this time. Even at that you are still getting T-Bone steak for less per pound than most hamburger at the local groceries.
